Kadupul flower is regarded as the most expensive type of flower in the world because no seller in the world can really profit from it. Therefore its value is priceless. It is a highly elusive plant, it is a cactus and only grows in Sri Lanka. It was dubbed as the ” Ghost Flower”, it blooms only once a year, always at night, and quickly dies before dawn. This means, that the flowers cannot be sold, or used as a decorative material. You can only enjoy its beauty for several hours.

Owners and cultivators of this flower make sure that they do not miss the moment it blossoms. When it does, the flowers that come out are often compared with the size of a newborn infant’s head, and it has pristine, white petals that wilt and die at dawn. It leaves a strong fragrant scent, that delights spectators and plant enthusiasts alike. When in full bloom the Kadupul Flower can reach up to 4 inches wide and 8 inches long.

This flower can only be found in Southwestern United States, South America, Central, and the Antilles. The flowers would only start blooming when they reach 4 or 5 years old. As the flowers grow older, there will be more flowers that will come out of it. Breeders of this rare flower put the plant inside dark environments to recreate a night-time effect. However, despite these techniques, the flower still opens only at night and will wilt by dawn without fail. Because the blooming of this flower is so rare, plant hobbyists and collectors make special events, at times yearly events. They will invite friends and family over even passers-by for a party as they wait for the flowers to bloom at its peak.

In fact, there are Facebook pages dedicated to blooming this flower, one of which is The Queen of the Night Society, a community in Hudson, NY whose members have collected this rare plant. They exchange tips on how to properly care for this most treasured flower.

The Shenzhen Nongke Orchid retails at a whopping $290,000 per flower. It is a very rare type of orchid. This type of orchid was crafted by Chinese agricultural scientists. It was created inside the Shenzhen Nongke University and it took scientists 8 years to create this delicate and resilient variant that blooms every 5 years. It officially became the most expensive flower ever sold during an auction in 2005.

This rare flower was really cultivated for the elite, it was priced expensively due to the fact that it is hard to cultivate, and it has atypical mix of colors. It is the kind of orchid that could also be eaten, it is said to have a very distinct taste on the palette.

3. Gold of Kinabalu Orchid

This rare and very expensive flower was first discovered in 1987, it nearly became extinct because of the activities of orchid smugglers. Today, while it can still be found, it is now extremely rare, and it can only be seen at the Kinabalu National Park in Malaysia. The flower is very rare due to the fact that it takes 15 years to bloom. This flower is only usually found in auctions where it can fetch $5,500 or more.

At first glance, this flower might look very common and simple. However, the Tulip Bulb is now sold for $5,700 and is now a status symbol for the elite. The Tulip Bulb was first cultivated during the 17th Century in Holland and later on, it was sold for exorbitant prices. The Dutch love the shape and the lush color of this tulip so much. It is also preferred due to the fact that its flowers are more resilient.

Lisianthus flowers while not exactly rare, are still considered one of the most beautiful. It is highly favored and sought after by events designers, and just about anyone who has a fair love for beauty. It is an expensive flower because it is very hard to grow or cultivate. Gardeners and hobbyists need to attend to this flower with the utmost care and concern. The prices of Lisianthus are increasing in the market because brides love it- it is usually selected as a bridal bouquet.
