Education and Early Influences

Samonte’s artistic journey began at the University of Santo Tomas, where he pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Under the guidance of renowned masters Galo Ocampo and Cenon Rivera, he honed his skills and developed a deep appreciation for various artistic techniques. This formative period laid the foundation for his future endeavors, instilling in him a commitment to precision and a keen eye for detail.

Expanding Horizons: New York and Cleveland

In 1976, Samonte embarked on a transformative journey by pursuing further studies in the United States. He delved into printmaking at the prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York, a city that has long been hailed as a global hub for artistic innovation and experimentation. Additionally, he explored commercial lithography in Cleveland, honing his technical prowess and expanding his artistic repertoire.
