On the spectacular day of March 15, 2024, the Glorietta 4 Art Venue Inc. Heritage Art Center became a haven for chic, fun-loving individuals, who gathered to celebrate the artistry of Mylene Quito.

This highly anticipated exhibit attracted art collectors, enthusiasts, and fellow artists alike, all eager to immerse themselves in the ornate, lively world of Quito’s creations.

Mylene Quito, a self-taught painter, has crafted a body of work that intricately weaves together her personal experiences and reflections, resulting in an exhibition that is both captivating and deeply introspective. Inspired by the tapestries of her upbringing and the resilience of her hardworking mother, who was an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), Quito’s artworks radiate vibrant, heartfelt, and authentic energy.

The focal point of the exhibit was Quito’s stunning depiction of flowers, each one bursting with life and color, reminiscent of the rich textures that adorned her childhood memories.

These floral compositions serve as a tribute to the intense passion and love shared between a mother and child, deep appreciation and admiration for a mother’s sacrifices. Some of her works also depict symbolisms for romantic love, passion, intrigue, and renewal and blossoming of love.

Quito’s mastery of patterns and the dance between sharp lines and billows was on full display in her collection titled “Les Belles Fleurs.

Here, viewers were treated to a visual feast of intricate designs and vivid colors of lovely, lovely flowers symbolizing the complex yet playful nature of life itself.

Throughout the exhibit, Quito’s art spoke volumes about the duality of existence, where suffering and enlightenment coexist in harmony. Against a backdrop of darkness, her vibrant flowers sprung forth, serving as a powerful metaphor for the resilience of the human spirit.

In her collection titled “Perfumed Enchantment,” “The Sakura’s Promise,” and “A Celebration of Courage and Return to Happiness,” Quito delves into the sacredness of personal tribulations, transmuting them into beautifully crafted symbols of enlightenment and abundance.

Despite facing numerous obstacles along her path, including harsh criticism from skeptics, Quito emerged stronger and more determined than ever.

Like the lotus flower she often depicts in her art, Quito has risen above the mud to bloom proudly in the river of life, serving as a beacon of resilience and unwavering spirit.
