Congratulations to SB19 for dominating the Wish Music Awards! Pablo was awarded Wish Artist of the Year, a recognition he truly deserves. Stell took home the Wish Breakthrough Artist of the Year award for his song Di Ko Masabi, while Felip (Ken) won Wish Rock/Alternative Song of the Year. As a group, SB19 received the Balance Performance of the Year award for Ilaw and the Collaboration of the Year award for Kalakal.

Now, what exactly is the Wish Music Awards, and why is it significant to win or be nominated?

The Wish 107.5 Music Awards began eight years ago, establishing itself as a credible and influential event in the Philippine music scene. What sets it apart is its charitable component: every major award winner’s chosen beneficiary receives ₱100,000. Over the years, many of the Philippines’ biggest artists, including KZ Tandingan, The Juans, Ez Mil, and Morissette, have been recognized at the Wish Music Awards, and now SB19 has joined their ranks.

Recently, there’s been some online debate about Josh winning Wish Hip-Hop Song of the Year, but it’s important to look at this objectively. Wish 107.5 prioritizes artists who have the potential to create not just a national but also an international impact. Josh Cullen has achieved this with his hip-hop track and music video Wild Tonight, which appeals to an international audience. Beyond the artistry — encompassing music, lyrics, fashion, and message — Josh also stands out for his clear advocacy. His cash prize will go to the Leukemic Indigent Fund Endowment, and he’s known for being actively involved in nonprofit organizations and projects, including feeding programs.

Josh’s international appeal has also been recognized globally, including by the Grammys Global Spin, and he has performed in South Korea. His work aligns with SB19’s overarching goal of excelling not just in the Philippines but on a global stage — something that resonates with the Wish Music Awards’ vision.

Each SB19 member has earned their awards through hard work and dedication. While all nominees were outstanding, it’s evident that SB19 is setting their sights on international success, making a name not just in Asia but also in Europe and America. Their achievements mirror those of trailblazing artists like KZ Tandingan and Morissette, who have carried the Philippine flag high on the global stage.

In conclusion, SB19’s victories at the Wish Music Awards are well-deserved, reflecting their commitment to excellence and their growing influence worldwide. Congratulations again to the group and all the winners!
